It gives students the unique opportunity to not only gain expertise and improve their language skills but also to get an insight into a foreign culture and the academic life of the hosting university. Dealing with foreign cultures can, however, be challenging and lead to numerous misunderstandings.
Designed as an interactive workshop, this training will introduce international students of the University of Rostock to various cultural aspects, raise awareness of factors that may hinder intercultural communication and sensitise for university life in Germany. Students will gain an understanding of values in German everyday academic life and develop strategies as well as train problem-solving skills to deal with intercultural challenges.
Moreover, students will have the opportunity to reflect on their own culture, discuss personal experiences, ask questions and exchange their views with the other participants.
